Let the Training Begin -No Excuses

I have been an adult leader for approximately 12yrs. now and I am a firm believer the the Boy Scouts of America has cornered the market on available training for scouts and scouters.

Access to this training is easy and the information provided is more than helpful to anyone that chooses to seek further knowledge in the scouting program.

The on-line training is in the form of power point presentations where the program is self lead or narrated to you to help you understand what the specific training is about.

Most do not take more than 1/2 hour to sit through and some will offer a test or exam to complete and should you make an error the program will take you back to refresh you memory on that specific topic.

Training on line is presented in a fun matter making the driest material palatable.

The BSA program offers training in 5 categories: General information, Cub Scout level training, Boy Scout level training, Venturing level training, and even Commissioner level training.

There is training available to help you with rechartering and first aid training

Training is available for becoming a certified Range master for the shooting sports program

We have training to for the popcorn sales program.

Training for running your derby events

Training to cover the forms needed to run a unit

You name the program and I could probably find the training information on that subject.

Training is more readily available for the volunteers that already have a tight schedule and I would probably say that at least 1/2 of the information a scouter needs to know is available on-line and accessible 365 days of the year and 24 hrs. a day.

So before you make that excuse for not being able to get the training done; be sure that you haven't over looked the sessions and topics made available to you via the Internet.

Every scout deserves a quality program and to present that quality program you will need to take every and any opportunity to get yourself trained.
