Cartoon Characters that Should have Been Boy Scouts

Face it, I love cartoons.
Mainly the older ones and my favorite cartoons came from the Warner Brother Studios, Disney Studios, and from Walter Lantz Productions.
I believe that Wile E. Coyote would have been more successful in his quest to capture the roadrunner had he been more prepared and less reliant on the Acme Manufacturing Company to provide him with the latest and greatest inventions designed to snare the smartest creatures on earth.
Wile E., chose to take the short cuts and also took his lumps from not being prepared for the inevitable dangers that soon followed once the trap was sprung.
He must have mastered his first aid badge though as he always came back for more and usually with the same outcome.

Moving out into the universe, stands a lone martian who seeks to destroy earth and all of its inhabitants.
Marvin the Martian and his trusty dog K-9.
Marvin could have mastered the science scout badges with his Elludium Q32 Explosive Space Modulator and his martian aliens that appeared once reconstituted from a gumball with a drop of water.
Long on "book smarts" and short on "street smarts," poor Marvin never learned to see his dream come true as he was always outwitted by Bugs Bunny (who probably could have been a scout).
Bugs, always was ready for anything...ask the two Hillbillies, Yosemite Sam, Beaky Buzzard, and Marvin.
So was the roadrunner, although the only thing he mastered in the scouting world was speed, and endurance with the fitness badges.
Which reminds me..."When tracking a roadrunner; it is usually best to stay off the tracks you are following."
Wile E. had to learn the hard way.
So here is my list of cartoon characters that should have been Boy Scouts:
  • Marvin the Martian and Gossamer
  • Snidley Whiplash
  • Henry Chicken Hawk
  • Beaky Buzzard
  • Wile E. Coyote
  • Tooter Turtle (from the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show)
  • Pinky and the Brain
  • Colonel Kit (Go Go Gophers)
  • Tennessee Tuxedo and Smedley
There are many more but I think that you get the picture.
Here is my list of cartoon characters that probably could have been Boy Scouts:

  • Bugs Bunny
  • Foghorn Leghorn
  • Roadrunner
  • Mr. Wizard
  • Chilly Willy
  • Droopy Dog
  • Dudley Dooright
  • Peabody and Sherman
  • Chief Ruffled Feather and his brave Running Board (Go Go Gophers)
  • Phineas J. Whoopie (from Tennessee Tuxedo)
Many of you may not know some of these characters and I will leave them up to you to research them for yourself.

  1. Great article. Don't forget all those other cartoon and comic characters who spent time as a Scout or helped to promote Scouting like Mickey Mouse, Casper The Friendly Ghost, Garfield, Calvin (and Hobbes), and of course, Snoopy, the Beagle Scout. Even Superman was called a Boy Scout on many occasions.
